TWO DAYS LEFT IN YOUTH CLIMATE REPORT’S
TORONTO (April 30, 2013) – With two days to go, Neko Harbour Entertainment’s documentary film series Youth Climate Report (YCR) is only $2,500 short of its target for its first crowd-funding campaign.
The YCR series – produced in partnership with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) – presents the latest climate research from around the around as reported by young people to international policy-makers at UN conferences.
The campaign is hosted by Catalyst, a crowdfunding initiative of the Centre for Social Innovation (CSI). Raising $7,500 in a one-month period is the goal of this campaign and with only two days remaining, nearly $5,000 has been raised.
“I’m overwhelmed by the support our project has received,” said YCR founder John Kelly. “A total of 64 backers from around the world are supporting us with more expected.”
The funds are being raised to establish a Country Starter Kit for Ghana. The kit will provide training for local youth reporters so they may participate in a dialogue with researchers about the effects of climate change in their country. The starter kit will be a model for other countries to use in setting up their own branch of production for future Youth Climate Report films.
The film series is the third in a successful partnership between UNEP and the producers of The Antarctica Challenge: A Global Warning (COP15, Copenhagen, 2009) and The Polar Explorer (COP16, Cancun, 2010).
This next edition of Youth Climate Report represents the fourth in the ongoing series. It will premiere at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, aka COP19, taking place November, 2013 in Warsaw, Poland. Previous editions premiered at COP18 in Doha, Qatar, COP17 in Durban, South Africa and at the Rio+20 Conference on Sustainable Development in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The CSI Catalyst crowdfunding campaign closes midnight on May 2, 2013. To make your contribution, please visit this link:
